There is less cash in circulation nowadays because it is far more convenient to make transactions without it; people would much rather pay using their phones, card, bracelets, etc. Consequently, we must make non-cash forms of payment as convenient as possible and be able to use them for tipping.

QR code for tips

Waiters live on money earned as tips because their salary is relatively small. When guests started paying with cards, waiters lost much of their income because non-cash tips took time. To tip, the guest must include it on the bill, but many only remember it at the very last moment after the payment has already been made. This practice has dramatically demotivated the waiting staff and affected the quality of their work.

The most common request we receive from our customers is finding a way to process tip payments via QR code; this is very popular with restaurants. We adapted a well-known platform for tipping via QR, which enabled it to interface with our POS systems. We are implementing a similar interface in Azerbaijan and slightly modifying it for each country to meet local legislative requirements.

QR codes for tips allow customers to show their appreciation for excellent service. This instant acknowledgement can also boost a waiter’s morale and motivation as they see their effort has a direct impact. Giving a tip to a specific staff member motivates them to do their best.

Benefits for the restaurant

QR codes for tips are a convenient and contactless way for customers to show appreciation for your restaurant’s service. For the guest, such a tip payment is often not tied to a particular waiter but is associated with the establishment. The result is a simple chain: well-served, fed, wanted for nothing, and the guest returns.

Implementing QR codes for tips increases the opportunity for waiters to earn more money. When customers have an easy and convenient way to tip, they are more likely to do so, potentially increasing the overall income of your staff.

You can introduce incentives by setting performance-based targets or rewards for waiters based on the number or value of tips received through QR codes. This can create healthy competition among team members and motivate them to provide exceptional service.

For the restaurant, the ability to tip via a QR code requires very little investment, but the loyalty of clients and staff motivation often increases. By implementing QR code tips, you facilitate a more convenient payment method for customers and create a motivating and rewarding environment for your waiters, fostering better service and achieving the ultimate goal of satisfied customers.
